Blow for Chiefs as goalkeeper is ruled out of action for unspecified period after surgery

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have suffered a massive setback in the goalkeeping department after a surgery to one of their experienced members.

The Glamour Boys have not been including goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari in their recent match-day squads where Bruce Bvuma has been on stand-by as Brandon Petersen does the job on the pitch.

Despite his struggles for the club since last season, Ntwari has been starting matches for Rwanda National Team, Amavubi.

He is highly rated by coach Adel Amrouche who insists the 26-year-old can feature for any top team given an opportunity.

His appearance, so far, Chiefs this season came in the loss against Stellenbosch in the Carling Knockout Round of 16. Both teams failed to cancel each other on the pitch before Stellies advances through the penalty shootout.

Reports from Rwanda indicate the shot-stopper will miss action for months after going a shulder injury. The custodian has been playing with an injury for some time now, explaining his pains during matches.

He underwent the procedure on Monday and might be out at least until April, although it could be sooner, depending with the way his his body responds to treatment.

“Goalkeeper Ntwari Fiacre has successfully undergone shoulder surgery after suffering an injury,” Rwandan Ballers reported.

“Every time he was available, he gave his all for both club and country. Wishing him a strong and speedy recovery as he’s set to be out for about two months,” they concluded.

This will be a blow to his determination to compete with Petersen at Chiefs in his bid to get his starting spot back.
