Boost for Chiefs as Zamalek’s key player is excluded from CAF CC date

Zamalek SC face Kaizer Chiefs in Group D of the CAF Confederation Cup without the services of their key midfielder this weekend in Polokwane.

The Egyptian side defeated Zesco United by a solitary goal on Sunday to go top of the pool ahead of Al Masry who beat the Glamour Boys 2-1. However, the White Knight had to do pay the price; their key player Abdullah Al-Saeed was injured in the process.

As much as Zamalek wanted to have him in the Saturday games, the odds are against them as confirmed ahead of the big fixture.

Zamalek confirm Al-Saeed’s blow

“The medical staff of Zamalek’s first football team revealed the extent of the injury suffered by Abdullah Al-Saeed, the team’s midfielder, during the recent match against Zesco United of Zambia in the African Confederation Cup,” the 2023/24 champions communicated through their media team.

“The medical staff confirmed that the scans and tests the player underwent proved that he had a tear in his hamstring, and the player began implementing his rehabilitation program today.

“The Zamalek first football team delegation [left Cairo at 11 pm on Tuesday], heading to South Africa, in preparation for playing against South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs in the African Confederation Cup.

“The delegation is headed by Ahmed Khaled Hassanin, a member of the board of directors of Zamalek Club. Zamalek will be hosted by South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs in the second round of the group stage on Saturday, November 29 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, ” they concluded.
