CAF CC: Massive blow for Chiefs as key players miss out ahead of ZESCO United test

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs are set to play ZESCO United in the CAF Confederation Cup’s Group D assignment on Sunday in Zambia.

The Glamour Boys unveiled their squad without the presence of some big names. like Etiosa Ighodaro, Gaston Sirino, Thabo Cele, Ethan Chislett, Wandile Duba, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, George Matlou, Nkanyiso Shinga, Bradley Cross and Rushwin Dortley.

Chislett and Shinga are yet to make their debut since joining Amakhosi in the off-season transfer window. However, the likes of Cele, Ighodaro, Duba, Matlou and Mthethwa, alongside Cross and Dorley have been nursing injuries.

Who is the latest in the sidelines?

Right-back Reeve Frosler is the latest on the team’s injury list as confirmed by Soccer Laduma.

“Thabo Cele is definitely injured. I saw him here. He was not even training. I am not sure how long he will be out they also don’t tell us these things as well. Rushwin Dortley is still injured,” they reported.

“Another one is Reeve [Frosler]. Reeve is also injured. But he’s not playing anyway. Those are the injuries that are there. And that’s the reason why they had to even get this boy [Thulani Mabaso] in the team,” they added.

Who has made the traveling list?

Chiefs started their campaign in Group D with a 2-1 loss away against Al Masry before drawing 1-1 at home.

This is different to ZESCO United who have not yet collected any point in the tough pool.
