Chiefs adamant they were undone by refs as a goal and a penalty was denied

Kaizer Chiefs failed to finish the year second on the Premier Soccer League table following their goalless draw with TS Glaxy on Sunday at the Mbombela Stadium.

Having played to a goalless draw with Chippa United in their previous league outing, the Glamour Boys came into the fixture with the Rockets knowing maximum points will bring them at par with Mamelodi Sundowns and just two points behind leaders Orlando Pirates.

It was not a happy ending for Amakhosi who will now finish the year fourth in the log with 24 points from 13 points. Bucs, Masandawana and Sekhukhune United are in the top three.

Were chiefs denied by referee?

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef has now alleged his team could have won but officiating let them down.

“I think it was a very nice game, I think our fans enjoyed the game, unfortunately we’re unlucky to win this game because if you see the stats of this game you’ll see we deserved to win this game,” he said in his post-match interview.

“We scored a goal, in my opinion clear goal, penalty (call not give) no penalty. So, in football what we know if you don’t score you don’t win, if we scored a goal, we created more than 12 -13 opportunities – 36 shots on target and finally we have to continue to work.

“I don’t want to repeat myself every time we’re unlucky, now we have this break time to correct our mistake to continue to work. I’m so proud about the players, they did good performance today. I’m so proud about all the players today even those ones coming from the bench, but that’s football,” he stated.

Luke Baartman Kaizer Chiefs

Luke Baartman finally made his debut for Chiefs after his off-season move from Cape Town Spurs.

“Baartman is player of Kaizer Chiefs, all the players deserved to play. If you are part of the team so that means you deserve to play. I will not speak about Baartman alone, but I’m speaking about other players,” Ben Youssef continued.

“All the players they deserved to play, all the players. You see we are also unlucky with the injury of the striker now we’re back with Ighodaro in next game. Mayo also played a very beautiful game he is back, but if all the players and strikers are available, I think we’ll perform very well,” he concluded.
