Mashiane on Lilepo, Cele & Morris: How new signings have changed Chiefs

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs left-back Happy Mashiane has made assessment on the club’s new signings – Glody Lilepo, Thabo Cele and Tashreeq Morris.

The trio arrived at the club in the January transfer window with Amakhosi strengthening the squad for Nasreddine Nabi.

Cele had been on the club’s radar for some time while Morris’ signing was a surprise move for Chiefs. Lilepo, on the other hand, came to the club with Nabi’s recommendation.

Mashiane says Lilepo and Cele give the Phefeni Glamour Boys a hefty shove considering that they have been playing in Europe.

And he feels Morris knows Chiefs well having been play in the league for some time.

MASHIANE GIVES ASSESSMENT ON CLUB’S TRIO

“The mood in the camp is good,” Mashiane told the club’s website.

“We have some new players who recently came in and they bring a different dimension to the team from their experiences playing football in other parts of the world.

“We know Tashreeq (Morris) has been around. (Thabo) Cele and ((Glody) Lilepo have come from overseas and brought their experience to us. They are integrating into the setup nicely.”

Meamwhile, Mashiane is pleased to be back in Kaizer Chiefs' starting lineup after Thatayaone Ditlhokwe's move.

Despite limited appearances under Nasreddine Nabi, with Bradley Cross initially preferred, Mashiane now has a chance to secure his place.

Ditlhokwe's recent rise and departure have created the opportunity.

’I HADN’T PLAYED IN A WHILE’

“Obviously, I hadn’t played a lot in a while,” he admitted.

“So coming back into that big game was a big motivation for me. I had to go in and give my best. With the guidance of the coach and his technical staff, I felt confident and it turned out great.

“Personally, I am doing everything I can to give the coach what he wants from me.”
