Chiefs legend pessimistic about ongoing campaign – ‘At this rate it’s scary’

Kaizer Chiefs have struggled to keep clean sheets in the ongoing Premier Soccer League campaign.

The Glamour Boys have avoided conceding just once this season; in the 10 games played, Amakhosi have conceded 13 goals. All three goalkeepers, Bruce Bvuma, Fiacre Ntwari and Brandon Petersen have had their fair chance.

Chiefs only clean sheet, so far, came in the last PSL outing against Chippa United. A game they won by a solitary goal scored by Mduduzi Shabalala.

In the 2023/24 campaign, the club finished ninth in the league to miss out on the MTN8. Club's legend Tsepo Masilela is afraid this season the Nasreddine Nabi-led outfit might not find it easy with the defensive frailties witnessed.

It is worrying for Kaizer Chiefs fans

“It’s a big worry, and when you watch them, the way they concede you think these guys maybe the coach joined one week before the league started and he didn’t have pre-season,” the 39-year-old told SoccerBeat.

“Because pre-season is there to work on things. You work on the shape, defensive roles, individuals, as a pair there’s a group the whole back four. They had ample time to get things right and my worry is that the way they concede, no man it’s like the coach just joined one week before the league started.

“They had a proper pre-season. The league started later than usual. It’s scary that when are they gonna get it right? I said before, at this rate, they’ll be fighting for the top eight again. I’m sorry to say that but at this rate it’s scary. It’s worrying for the fans as well.”

The next game for Chiefs will be against TS Galaxy who recently appointed Muhsin Ertugral as their interim coach.
