Kaizer Chiefs had good preparations for the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.

In coach Nasreddine Nabi’s debut season, the Glamour Boys ended their decade-long trophy drought by securing the Nedbank Cup after beating traditional rivals Orlando Pirates in the final.

However, they disappointed in the PSL, where they finished ninth, just a position higher than the previous edition.

The Tunisian was hoping to continue as the club’s man man, but he was dismissed just six matches into the new campaign.

It got worse for Kaizer Chiefs after another Premier Soccer League loss on Tuesday, March 3.

Having lost to Stellenbosch and Orlando Pirates, respectively, where they conceded a total of five goals and scored just once. It seemed like the outing against Richards Bay would be a relatively easier one.

Amakhosi had beaten the Natal Rich Boys in the initial meeting by a solitary goal, and following back-to-back defeats in the South African top-tier, the majority of football-loving fans anticipated Amakhosi to bounce back.

But the strike by Thulani Gumede was enough to ensure the Glamour Boys returned home without a point.

Chiefs will now concentrate on the PSL fixture against Durban City on Sunday, March 15, at the FNB Stadium. The Mswenko Boys lost by a solitary goal when they last met.
