Kaizer Chiefs had good preparations for the 2025/26 Premier Soccer League campaign.
In coach Nasreddine Nabi’s debut season, the Glamour Boys ended their decade-long trophy drought by securing the Nedbank Cup after beating traditional rivals Orlando Pirates in the final.
However, they disappointed in the PSL, where they finished ninth, just a position higher than the previous edition.
The Tunisian was hoping to continue as the club’s man man, but he was dismissed just six matches into the new campaign.

The Glamour Boys were keen on getting their second win in a raw across all competitions this year after a 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in the Premier Soccer League.
However, Chiefs were set to face ZESCO United without the services of Etiosa Ighodaro, Gaston Sirino, Thabo Cele, Ethan Chislett, Wandile Duba, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, George Matlou, Nkanyiso Shinga, Bradley Cross, Rushwin Dortley, and Reeve Frosler who were nursing injuries.
Nevertheless, it mattered less as the Soweto giants needed a strike by Pule Mmodi in the second minute to secure maximum points in CAF Confederation Cup Group D outing.
They are now on four points, three behind leaders Al Masry and just one less than second-placed Zamalek FC.
On Wednesday, Chiefs will be back at home playing Marumo Gallants away in the Premier Soccer League outing.
