Chiefs name squad for CAF Confederation Cup outing against Al Masry – Big names out

Kaizer Chiefs have named their traveling party ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup outing against Al Masry on Sunday.

The Glamour Boys hope for nothing less than a good start against a tricky Egyptian outfit in the fixture that will be staged at the Suez Canal. The Soweto giants made the group stage after eliminating the Democratic Republic of Congo outfit AS Simba.

They have been paired with former Champions Zamalek and Zambia heavyweights Zesco United as well. Chiefs are seen as the underdogs but Angolan defender Inacio Miguel is ready to prove doubters wrong.

Chiefs want to write a statement

“We are Kaizer Chiefs, and we will prove that we’re also a big team. We must prove to ourselves that we’re capable of competing against the best teams in Africa because we are one of the biggest teams in Africa as well. We need to work hard and represent Kaizer Chiefs and SA well,” he said in a recent interview with the media.

“In group stages, all the games are important, but we are aware that getting a good result at home is easier than doing it away. We have to understand that it’s more important to play to avoid a defeat than to try to win the game because you may end up losing when you play away games. When we travel, we must come back with a point at least.

“We played against two very difficult teams in the preliminary round, and that prepared us well for the group stages. Angola and DR Congo are tough countries to go to and perform in, given the environment there,” Miguel cncluded.
