Chiefs priced Ntwari out of a deal! Amakhosi ‘asked for a lot of money’

Rwanda coach Adel Amrouche has now revealed that Kaizer Chiefs priced his goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari out of a potential deal.

The 26-year-old joined Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2024/25 Premier Soccer League season from TS Galaxy as the Glamour Boys worked hard to get Itumeleng Khune's successor.

His displays at the Rockets had caught the attention of the Amakhosi technical team, explaining his signing.

However, things didn't work out as expected; the Amavubi International struggled to settle into his new team. The custodian eventually lost his place, initially to Bruce Bvuma and later on to Brandon Petersen.

It explains why he was linked to Chiefs' exit in the concluded transfer window, but a move didn't go through. Amrouche has explained the reason.

‘It is difficult for me to say what I think'

“A lot of teams contacted me, [but] the team [Chiefs] asked for a lot of money. You must be realistic,” he said as quoted by iDiski Times.

“It’s good when you have three very good goalkeepers instead of one and it’s difficult for me to say what I think, maybe because I want to protect my goalkeeper.

“Also, I must respect the club, the decision of the coach, and the other goalkeeper of Chiefs,” Amrouche concluded.

Ntwari made his first start for the Glamour Boys in months in the Carling Knockout Round of 16 against Stellenbosch. After a goalless draw in both regulation and extra time, before falling in the penalty shootout.

Despite his struggles, Ntwari has remained Rwanda's first-choice goalkeeper and delivered even when under intense pressure.
