Chiefs release trophy-winning captain & midfielder as Nabi continues to shape his squad

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make massive changes in their playing unit in their bid to challenge for top honours next season.

In the concluded campaign, the Glamour Boys ended their decade-long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup. However, they struggled in the Premier Soccer League and ended up missing MTN8 for the second consecutive year. The Nasreddine Nabi-led team finished ninth on the table with 32 points from 28 games.

The club promised massive changes, and one of them is bringing quality players to add to the 10 they signed last season. Midfielder Sabelo Radebe was released a couple of days ago and more are expected to follow.

Captain released despite winning the league

The Soweto giants have confirmed their DDC skipper is not in the club's plans for the new campaign.

“We bid an emotional farewell to our Reserves captain, Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi; a true leader both on and off the pitch,” they confirmed through their media team.

DDC Kaizer Chiefs are champions

“From rising through our Youth Academy ranks to leading the Kaizer Chiefs Reserves with heart, discipline, and pride; Ntando has left a mark that will live far beyond the final whistle.  Your journey has been nothing short of inspiring.

“You led with courage, played with passion, and wore the armband like it was woven into your soul.  We thank you for your service to the badge, your leadership in the locker room, and the unforgettable moments in gold & black.  All the best in your next chapter, Captain,” they concluded.

Blom released to the parent team

The Glamour Boys have further confirmed Njabulo Blom has returned to his Major League Soccer side, St. Louis City, after a one-season loan.

The 25-year-old midfielder played 19 games for the club across all competitions, making nine starts in the process.

“Blom rejoined the Amakhosi at the beginning of September 2024 under an agreement to spend a season at his boyhood Club in the Betway Premiership.

“After donning the famous Gold and Black jersey for the second time in his career, the Dobsonville-born player departs Amakhosi with a Nedbank Cup gold medal, and we wish him all the best in Major League Soccer (MLS),” they concluded.
