Chiefs star determined ‘to be remembered for changing Amakhosi situation’

Kaizer Chiefs are determined to end their nine-season silverware drought that has put the management, the technical team, and the players under so much pressure.

This season, Amakhosi failed to take part in the MTN8 after finishing 10th in the 2023/24 Premier Soccer League campaign. The Soweto giants were then eliminated from the Carling Knockout in the quarter-final phase.

Things have been tough in the PSL; after 11 matches, they are placed seventh on the table with 15 points after four wins, as many losses, and three draws. However, goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma is optimistic it is just a matter of time before everything falls into place.

I don't wanna be remembered' or as a generation that didn't achieve

“It's very important for us to be remembered as a generation that changed the whole situation. I'm not gonna think about the negatives of ‘I don't wanna be remembered' or as a generation that didn't achieve A, B, C but we have a chance as a team to change all of that,” he told the media.

“We have a chance to change this whole situation of being remembered as that group that changed the whole situation. I'm grateful that I'm still here and I believe with the quality players that we have, with the coaching staff that we have, we can easily turn things around and everything can work for us.”

The Glamour Boys started the year with a 1-0 loss against Cape Town City and will be hoping to get their first win on Wednesday against Stellenbosch at the FNB Stadium.

“Playing Stellenbosch, yes, we didn't start the year well, we lost in Cape Town but we are looking forward to the game. It's out third game at home, here at FNB Stadium, we are looking forward to it.

“Obviously, the coaches and the whole team, we know what's at stake, we know that we have to work hard in order for us to win the game. So, we definitely going to give our all and win the game tomorrow,” Bvuma concluded.
