Red Arrows coach Chisi Mbewe has given his thoughts on his team’s 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Confederation Cup, insisting that the Soweto giants have little chance going forward.
Chiefs lost in Ndola on Saturday in the second preliminary round, leaving them on the brink of early elimination, unless they overturn the result in the second leg.
Alassane Diarra scored in the 77th minute for the Zambian club at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium to sink Chiefs who failed to utilise the few chances they had their way.

Mbewe has lauded his players for containing the South African giants but is disappointed that it was only one goal.
Red Arrows coach issues firm warning
“Coming into this game, we knew it was not going to be an easy encounter, considering the experience and maturity Kaizer Chiefs have in this competition. We planned for them,” Mbewe told the club’s media team.
“I am happy with the way the boys fought and approached the game. Despite missing several chances, they showed great commitment and created numerous opportunities.

“Sometimes, that is the nature of football. You can create so many chances and end up scoring just one goal.”
“I think the message to the players is loud and clear. We played the first half of the game. We need very strong mental strength when we travel to South Africa, we don’t need to be complacent,” he added.
Kaizer Chiefs’ chances dismissed
“Our target was to score three goals in this game and you could see by the chances we created.”

While their winning margin is just one goal, which gives Chiefs hopes of turning things around in the return leg, Mbewe is giving the Glamour Boys no chance.
“It’s in our hands. We go there, we fight and ensure we qualify for the group stage and this time around I can sure you Red Arrows is qualifying for the group stages,” said the tactician.
Chiefs will host Red Arrows in the second leg at Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban on Friday, October 23.
