Kaizer Chiefs have been working hard in their bid to regain the lost ground in South African football.
At the same time, the Glamour Boys have been doing their best to nurture upcoming youngsters and ensure they reach their potential. In the 2024/25 campaign, the DSTV Diski Challenge crown went to the junior Amakhosi time, which was their first.
One of the players who made it possible is defender Xolani Cossa who played a critical part for the Soweto giants.

In their bid to ensure the 21-year-old continues with his development, they loaned him to the Black Lions of Botswana, coached by coach Owen da Gama. Despite his tender age, Cossa is a dependable figure in the team and is delighted to have a chance to play top-tier football.
I took the best move – Cossa
“Botswana is a great place to be; I have been received well, and I’m happy to be part of the project. I want to do more for the club,” he opened up in a recent interview with FARPost.
“The move from DDC to Botswana has been beneficial because the league is physical and very competitive. The league is becoming better with each passing day. I feel I took the best move to gain more experience, momentum and become a better player.
“Most of my teammates can play in the PSL, but they must push. We have a great team, and we’ll compete in the league. I think we can finish in the top eight.”

Cossa further lauded his former teammates at Chiefs’ DDC side Aden McCarthy and Khulumani Ndamane after making the preliminary squad of the Bafana Bafana squad set for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
“I’m happy for them because they’ve taken their chance, my time will come. I am ready. I will come back and fight for my place. I’ve gained more knowledge here in Botswana,” he concluded.
