Last season, Chiefs struggled in the Premier Soccer League and ended up finishing ninth on the table, just a position higher than what they achieved the previous edition.

Chiefs sell their trophy-winning captain

However, they ended their decade-long trophy drought by securing the elusive Nedbank Cup which also guaranteed their participation in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.

Surprisingly, the management have decided to let go of captain Yusuf Maart who scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over traditional rivals Orlando Pirates.

The 29-year-old has served the Glamour Boys for three seasons following his arrival from Sekhukhune United. His initial deal ended at the end of the concluded campaign, but Amakhosi opted to give him a new offer.

As Afrik-Foot initially reported, Maart is on his way out of the club, after accepting a deal from an Austrian Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried. The midfielder was spotted leaving for Europe on Saturday morning with the club set to make an official announcement in the next couple of days.

It is interesting to see how his exit will impact the Soweto giants who have recently relied on him in midfield.
