CR Belouizdad striker Khanyisa Mayo has expressed his desire to join Kaizer Chiefs should he ever return to South Africa.
The 26-year-old forward made the move to the Algerian club from Cape Town City earlier this season.
Amakhosi tabled an offer for him but it was too late as he had already put pen to paper, signing for Belouizdad.
Despite this, Mayo remains a fan of Amakhosi, citing his father Patrick Mayo's history with the club and their status as the “biggest club” in South Africa. He has indicated that Chiefs would be his preferred destination if he were to return to the Betway Premiership.
MAYO ON WHY HE’LL CHOOSE CHIEFS WHEN HE COMES BACK
“Regarding Chiefs, yes, if I ever think about coming back home, they will be my first preference,” Mayo told KickOff.
“It's the biggest team in South Africa, and my dad played there. So, I also see myself representing one of the top teams in the country.”
Mayo is still finding his feet at Belouizdad and has yet to make a significant impact for the Algerian club. He attributes this to the ongoing adaptation process to his new environment.
“I'm just adapting to a new culture, and things are going well. It's just a matter of time before l start scoring goals. Settling into a new club can be challenging,” he added.
“It's a work in progress; to score more, I need more minutes on the pitch.”
