CR Belouizdad striker Khanyisa Mayo has revealed what kind of game Orlando Pirates must expect from his side in the CAF Champions League.
The Buccaneers are set to face off with the Algerian side on Tuesday, 26 November on the road, starting off their group stage journey in the champions league.
The match will take place at the Stade du 5 Juillet in Algeria.
Former Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo, who now plays for CR Belouizdad, will be a familiar face to Orlando Pirates when the two sides meet in the CAF Champions League.
Mayo has warned the Sea Robbers to expect a highly physical match against Belouizdad, emphasising the difference in playing styles between domestic and continental football.
The 26-year-old explained that CR Belouizdad's defensive strategy involves a more physical, one-on-one approach rather than traditional zonal marking.
MAYO ON DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALGERIAN & SOUTH AFRICAN FOOTBALL STYLES
“It's [Algerian league] more physical, where it's a man-to-man game we play here, one-v-one marking. Most of the teams l've faced here, players like to dive, but it's a physical game compared to South African football,” Mayo tols SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.
“Where you're given time and space, [PSL it's more of] tactics and technique. In North Africa, here in Algeria is different, you have to run after your man here.
“My team, we like to defend and attack, but I do most of the defending [compared to Cape Town City]. It starts from the top.”
