Dansin strike vs Sundowns, goal of the season? Youngster opens up

Published on by

Orlando Pirates midfielder Cemran Dansin scored a beauty against Mamelodi Sundowns early in the season to ensure spoils were shared.

The defending Premier Soccer League champions had hosted the Soweto giants on November one at Loftus Versfeld Stadium. Peter Shalulile had scored in favour of Masandawana, before the 20-year-old’s screamer left Ronwen Williams glued on his spot.

So far, no goal has come close to that rocket and chances are high that it might be the best in the 2025/26 season.

The midfielder has struggled to get regular spot at the club owing to stiff competition; he has made just eight appearances with a goal an assist to his name. He now hopes that goal will be crowned at the end of the ongoing campaign.

I would be very happy it won

“I would d be very happy and I’m hoping that it can win the Goal of the Season award,” he opened up recently.

“The goal happened so quick and as I hit the target, I could see it was going in, and I was waiting to celebrate. As a young player, playing for Orlando Pirates, it will help me going forward, knowing that I’m capable of doing such.

Orlando Pirates have started the season well and have so far won MTN8 and the Carling Knockout. Furthermore, they are top of the table with 28 points from 12 games, one less than the Brazilians who have played a game more.

They will be aiming at going all the way, and even challenge for the Nedbank Cup.
