Mamelodi Sundowns have climbed up to the summit of the DStv Diski Challenge table while Orlando Pirates secured a big victory on Saturday.

Masandawana resumed their campaign this weekend after a break last weekend due to Royal AM's ongoing suspension from the competition.

Sundowns are enjoying a successful run, having secured their third consecutive victory by defeating Cape Town City 5-1 at home in a match held at Tuks Stadium.

Thapelo Maseko and Siyabonga Mabena, both of whom are part of the first team, participated in the reserves and each scored two goals during the match, with Sipho Ngqakabana contributing one goal.

The Brazilians have amassed 15 points from the seven league matches they have played thus far.

Meanwhile, Pirates triumphed over Chippa United with a score of 3-0 at Isak Steyl Stadium, marking their second consecutive win.

Simphiwe Masilela, Siphamandla Msezana, and Mehluleli Maphumulo each scored for the home team.

The Buccaneers currently occupy the second position in the league standings, having garnered 15 points from eight matches.

Although they are tied on points, Sundowns hold the advantage due to a superior goal difference.

Additionally, in another match on Saturday, Richards Bay FC secured a 1-0 victory against Magesi, achieving their third win of the season.
