‘Difficult player to find’ – Riveiro raves over Pirates defender

Published on by Joel Oliver

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has showered praise on youngster Mbekezeli Mbokazi, claiming he is a rare talent.

The defender has been making waves especially with the Amajita and is among young players who have been promoted into the senior team at Pirates, having been elevated in October.

However, unlike his peers Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota, who are now regular starters, he is yet to start his first game for the Buccaneers but so good is he that he was voted into the starting XI of the PSL All Star team set to take on Magesi FC in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday.

His coach agrees with all the hype surrounding the player and has tipped him to go on and become a star due to his massive talent.

What does Riveiro make of Mbokazi?

“An interesting prospect. He’s a difficult player to find. Left-footed centre-backs, they are not many,” Riveiro said as per iDiski Times.

“Strong, competitive, good character, willing to learn, a coachable player so far. Like for everybody else on Saturday an opportunity to confirm what I’m saying or to prove me wrong maybe, let’s see.

“I don’t really like to talk so much about individuals, as you know. But I’m doing an exception again. He will show the player that he is on Saturday for sure.”

As he waits for his first big break at Pirates, fans will get an opportunity to see what the young defender is made of in Saturday’s match which will be played at the Orlando Stadium.
