‘Don’t celebrate nonsense! Chiefs have been playing badly but referee killed the game’

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs survived nervy moments in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup's first preliminary round against Kabuscorp to get through on penalties.

Either team won respective legs by a solitary goal before Amakhosi won the shootout 5-4 to advance. It was the the Glamour Boys' first win in five games across all competitions.

Have a look at what the fans said after Saturday's result at the FNB Stadium.

Give credit to coaches

Solomons has played really well today. At some point, we must give credit where it’s due equally, so just like when we criticise. Bro was solid at the back, made good decisions, and every time he went forward, he offered us something useful. What a game he has had – Aey

The fact that we needed to do this in such a hard way is worrying.  But for today, let's celebrate Makhosi and look forward to this tournament – Black Child

We played well, and we missed a lot of chances. I can take this win, but we need to be more clinical. Kabuscorp was frustrating – Vezzy

We should be playing the CAF Champions League, this CAF conference cup is too easy for us – Skipper

When we lost 1 – 0 in Angola, I thought it was over for us. We need to give credit to the coaches for that formation and starting lineup, they cooked – Mpho

The referee was breathing with the whistle, which killed the whole tempo of the game. But overall, the boys tried to create chances and push forward. Too many touches in the box, poor decision-making still hunts us to this day. Congratulations, Khosi – Nicolas Levie

Chiefs bought players to bench them

We are just happy to go through; we have a huge problem with goal conversion. It has been like this for so many years. I was shaking during those penalties; onto the next round – KB Ramasimong

Playing penalties in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup is such a dirty business –  Honeydew

Get us a proper coach, it was really painful watching how this team played, not forgetting the number of chances we missed, especially during the first half – Tshepo

So Kaizer Chiefs bought players only to bench and pay them? That's very strange –  Zakhele Nzimand

The way supporters are celebrating is total nonsense. Kaizer Chiefs have been playing bad football lately. They have new players, but they can't even score more than one goal. The hype you are giving this team is that the more management will do as you please – Sydney
