Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba recently shared a compelling conversation he had with his new teammate, Khanyisa Mayo, a left-footed forward, who joined on a season-long loan from Algerian club CR Belouizdad.
The arrival of Mayo at Chiefs has injected a new level of competition, fighting for the number nine role with the likes of Etiosa Ighodaro, Tashreeq Morris, Flávio Silva and Duba in the striking department.
Following a recent CAF fixture against Kabuscorp, Duba reveals that Mayo approached him with a forward-thinking proposal.

DUBA ON WHAT MAYO SAID TO HIM – ‘YOU AND I WILL WORK WELL TOGETHER’
“Mayo said look me and you are going to work well together,” Duba recounted.
“Even if we stay behind after training to just hit the net, the two of us.
“So, with the even the guys that are there now, with their experience, I think they will really help me to get back to what I do best.”
After missing the last CAF Confederation Cup match against Kabuscorp SC, Duba will be looking to get back to action against AmaZulu.
The match will take place on Wednesday at FNB Stadium at 19:30.
“Every team that comes to play Kaizer Chiefs gives their best, it won't be an easy game – despite the fact they lost their previous game,” Duba said referring to their impressive record against Usuthu.
“They will want to come [to FNB Stadium] and win this game, we all know – when teams play Kaizer Chiefs, they [motivated] to win the game.”
Duba’s playtime has been minimal this season, registering a total of just five appearances in the Betway Premiership so far.
