Ex-Chiefs defender slams ‘nowhere to be seen’ Amakhosi players – ‘It’s embarrassing to be honest’

Kaizer Chiefs are one of the biggest teams not only in South Africa but in Africa at large, owing to the many fans they have.

However, they have struggled to win trophies in the last decade, save for the concluded one when they won the Nedbank Cup after a 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates. But it did nothing to motivate players in the Premier Soccer League, as the team went on to finish ninth on the table with 32 points.

Chiefs faithful expected a couple of players to be included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the international friendly games against Tanzania and Mozambique, respectively. Despite Mamelodi Sundowns players missing out owing to club engagements, the Glamour Boys still didn't make Hugo Broos' squad.

Who can blame Broos for Chiefs' snub?

Ex-Amakhosi and Bafana Bafana defender Gardner Seale is still in denial that Amakhosi are not part of the team to play the forthcoming friendly games.

“This current squad it's clear it's a back-up squad, obviously every team needs to have a plan ‘B'. Speaking of Kaizer Chiefs players not even getting call-ups in a back-up squad, it's embarrassing to be pretty honest,” he told SNL24.

“I don't know, you might swear there is something personal going on. It's embarrassing. I mean, we just lifted the Nedbank Cup not so long ago. And the boys played well in that final. But who can blame Hugo Broos? There is no consistency in that team. If you can beat the likes of Sundowns and Stellenbosch, then what's stopping you from beating the other 13 teams?

“We have players that play well in two games, and after that, they are nowhere to be seen,” Seale concluded.

However, five Chiefs players have been included in the Cosafa squad for the annual competition that will be played next month in Bloemfontein.
