Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has confirmed his final squad for the upcoming friendly games against Tanzania and Mozambique, respectively.
The South Africa national team will host Taifa Stars on Friday, June 6, at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane before coming up against Os Mambas at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria four days later.
Broos did not include Mamelodi Sundowns players in the team, owing to their busy schedule. Masandawana are in Egypt, preparing to play Pyramids in the second leg of the Caf Champions League final, before starting preparations for the 2025 Fifa Club World Cup that will be played from June 14 to July 13.
Who has made the Bafana Bafana squad?
Broos did not have any room for Kaizer Chiefs players despite some of them showing improvement in the final third of the season. However, he has handed Orlando Pirates youngsters Simphiwe Selepe, who until recently was the club's ball boy, Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Mohau Nkota a chance to prove their worth, alongside Deano van Rooyen.
Other players who have been considered are Renaldo Leaner who is a goalkeeper, defender Samukelo Kabini while the attacking department has the likes of Tshepang Moremi and Yanela Mbuthuma who recently extended his contract at Richards Bay.
Broos will be using the game to prepare his team for the forthcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers – where his team has a great chance of topping Group C owing to their strong showings, and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations that will be played in Morocco later in the year.
