Former Orlando Pirates assistant coach Sergio Almenara has re-united with Jose Riveiro in Sweden.
Almenara, who was part of the Sea Robbers team that won two Nedbank Cups and as many MTN8s, left his role at the club in March 2025. His initial job was with the Finnish national team where he served as a set-piece specialist until January, 2026.

He has been serving under coach Jacob Neestrup at Danish club FC Copenhagen before AIK Fotboll, who have won the Swedish top-tier 12 times, came for his services.

Welcome to AIK, Sergio Almenara! AIK Football has reached an agreement with the Spanish coach Sergio Almenara Crispín for a contract as assistant coach to the club’s head coach José Riveiro,” the club confirmed.
“The agreement is valid from April 1, 2026, and is signed through the 2028 season.”
