Fadlu Davids reveals Morocco secret to producing elite players

Published on by

Raja Casablanca coach Fadlu Davids has revealed how the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is reshaping the country’s football landscape through a groundbreaking development strategy aimed at producing world-class talent.

Speaking to SABC Sport at the Raja Academy, Davids outlined the model: every Botola Pro League club is assigned a technical director to align with the federation’s vision. This includes twice-daily training, top-class medical care, and compulsory schooling at the Mohammed VI Academy.

“Development is key. The federation has invested heavily in clubs, ensuring budgets and technical directors to help teams grow,” said Davids.

The results speak volumes: of 57 players in the programme, 47 turned professional, over 15 moved to top European clubs, and five are in Morocco’s AFCON squad.

Davids also highlighted how the academy hosted Mali’s AFCON preparations, showcasing Morocco’s world-class facilities and commitment to excellence.

“We had to vacate our facility for Mali to train properly. It was fantastic to be part of AFCON here in Morocco,” he added.

Morocco’s approach is clear: invest in youth, infrastructure, and technical expertise to dominate African football and compete globally.
