Bafana Bafana left-back Fawaaz Basadien has reportedly received interest from two North African clubs even as he continues to be linked to the top teams in South Africa.
Basadien has been heavily linked to Kaizer Chiefs with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns also credited with an interest and came close to moving last year before staying at his current club Stellenbosch FC.
However, with the transfer window open again, interest is coming in and his agent has opened up about the suitors who are knocking on the player’s door in a bid to secure his services ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

“Yes, it’s true that we’ve received what I could describe as a bid from two North African clubs for Fawaaz,” Basadien’s agent Basia Michaels told SABC.
Why is Basadien not in a hurry to leave?
“We would consider any offer that can take the player to the next level, but we won’t be jumping into anything just yet – especially with the Afcon in mind. I’d like to also remind interested parties that Fawaaz is under contract at Stellies and they still hold all the cards. The North Africa proposal is quite lucrative though.”
It remains to be seen where Basadien, voted Stellenbosch’s Player of the Season last term, will be playing in the upcoming campaign given some of his suitors have beefed up at left-back.

Chiefs for instance unveiled new left-back Nkanyiso Shinga on Tuesday while Pirates and Sundowns have not indicated that they will be going back in for him.
The player, who scored seven goals while providing eight assists last season, is also seeking guaranteed gametime from the club that he will play for next to stay in contention for a Bafana Bafana call-up to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and potentially the 2026 World Cup.
