Former Premier Soccer League star expelled from national team

Angola fell against Argentina 2-0 in a recent friendly game that was played over the weekend.

The fixture was used by the African nation to both celebrate the 50th independence anniversary as well as prepare for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be played in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.

However, it did not end well for former Cape Town City striker Jo Paciencia who was sent home owing to disciplinary breach.

The Angolan FA confirmed the news as the team continued their preparations for another friendly outing against the Chipolopolo of Zambia.

“The National Football Team honors performed this Sunday afternoon, 16. the penultimate training session before next Tuesday's game against Zambia's similar,” they said in a statement.

“Initially with 30 athletes, the group under the orders of Patrice Beaumelle, is now reduced to 27, due to the departures of captain Fredy, dismissed for personal issues [he traveled after the game with Argentina, being that there was already this dismissal face request of the same], Beny Mukendi, due to injury (he has already returned to his club) and Jô Patience dismissed for indiscipline.

“The challenge between Angola and Zambia, takes place at 17h00 this Tuesday, at the national stadium November 11,” Angolan FA concluded.

In the AFCON, Angola have been pooled in Group B alongside South Africa, Egypt and Zimbabwe.
