Galaxy coach Beganovic reveals why he has not signed ex-Chiefs defender

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has conceded former Kaizer Chiefs defender Sifiso Hlanti needs to work on certain aspects of his game to stand a chance of getting a chance to work with the team.

The 34-year-old left-back was released by the Glamour Boys after the end of the 2023/24 season. In that edition, the veteran defender played 21 matches for Amakhosi and managed to score a goal.

He has been training with the Rockets hoping to convince the technical team that he has what it takes to deliver for them. However, coach Beganovic insists Hlanti has to do more if he is really determined to get a contract before the ongoing campaign concludes.

Hlanti needs to get fit

“When he came, I knew him because of many games I analysed when we played against Chiefs. I know him, he’s left back, not so fast, what we expected but also he needs to fix some tactical parts and also fitness is very important to fix now because he came he’s not ready to play because he had a huge gap between two clubs and I think seven months is not easy to replace,” he told SABC.

“I think he needs just to get fit, and if we decide to keep him, he can help because he has quality.”

The tactician has further opened up on his plans in the short transfer window, “For us, it's very important to keep [players] and we decided to keep all our players. Then we talked about the FIFA window and then maybe we decide maybe now we have a trial for central defenders. Zulu from Durban and then Hlanti is there, the Kaizer Chiefs left back.

“Maybe we try to find one central defender if we can but in the end, we want to keep all our players and I’m so happy about that then I think it’s enough for this season,” Beganovic concluded.
