Bafana Bafana will play Ghana in an international friendly match as they continue their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Coach Hugo Broos’ charges will host the West Africans in Gauteng on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, at a venue that will be announced in the coming days,” SAFAconfirmed in a statement.

South Africa have been placed in Group B of the biennial competition alongside record winners Egypt, Angola and Zimbabwe.

When will Bafana Bafana leave for Morocco?

The Federation has further confirmed that Bafana Bafana will leave for Morocco four days before the competition starts. Their first match will be against Angola on December 22, then face Egyot four days later before winding group games with Zimbabwe on 29th.

“The team will then depart for Morocco on the following day, ahead of their participation in the AFCON tournament to be held in Morocco from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

“The stage is set for 24 African teams to battle it out in nine venues in Morocco, and Côte d’Ivoire are the defending champions.”

Ghana squad to play Bafana Bafana

The Black Stars have opted against including the big names in their build-up outing.

“Black Galaxies coach Kassim Mingle has announced a 20-man squad for the friendly match against Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Tuesday, December 16, 2025,” GFA stated.

“This match serves as a sendoff for Bafana Bafana before they head to Morocco for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.

“The Black Galaxies, led by Coach Kassim Mingle, will use the match to prepare for their CHAN Qualifiers as South Africa also wrap up their preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations,” they concluded.
