Orlando Pirates‘ dream to win the second star in the Caf Champions League was shattered when surprise package Pyramids eliminated them in the semi-final phase.

The first leg at the FNB Stadium ended goalless with the second one in Cairo ending 3-2 in favour of the Egyptian outfit.

Pyramid will now play Mamelodi Sundowns, who got past Al Ahly, in the final. Have a look at what the fans said after the Friday game.

The defense cost Pirates

Tough luck boys, honestly, you did your best with the resources we had. I prayed so hard that we would win the game. But it was not meant to be. Let's try again next time. To our Jose Riveiro, we appreciate the work you have done for our team – Jabulani Silence

Well played Buccaneers, honestly, the game was ours to win but the defense cost us. In the crucial moments of concentration, we were found ball watching. Senior players couldn’t pick up second balls, couldn’t pick Fiston Mayele in the box. Gave away two easy goals. Coach also took out Mohau Nkota and Thalente Mbatha way too early when they were key players – Bongumenzi Zwane

Hard luck Orlando Pirates, you should have converted all the chances. But it is part of football; stay strong and move on. How I had wished to see South Africa teams in the final; however it is unfortunate now – Lurh Lungelo

Jose sold this game, I knew the minute he introduced lazy players, we are out. Sipho Chaine saved us a lot. Tapelo Xoki and Nkosinathi Sibisi combination is not working – Thobile Mazinyo

Tired Mbatha is better than lazy Kabelo Dlamini and Patrick Maswanganyi. The coach didn’t learn, you can’t introduce a similar type of players in such a high-tempo game – Bibo Bibo

‘Maswanganyi is not an Orlando Pirates material’

It will be 57 Mamelodi Sundowns fans against  27 Pyramids fans in the final. I have never seen such poor attendance in the semi-final – Mondli Makhunga

Good try from the boys, we needed Olisa Ndah for those high balls. Also need to add quality midfielders next season. Could barely hold on to the ball. Otherwise, let’s push for the Nedbank Cup and the Premier Soccer League – Mchristo Nkosikhona Mabizela

The boys fought until the last minute, it wasn't meant to be. Let's go all out in the remaining games – Sfiso Skosana

Patrick Maswanganyi is really not Pirates material, man. He should join SuperSport United – Glory Mathapelo Matabane

It's a good thing Jose Riveiros leaving that man does not have plan B – Kelebogile Nkoane
