Orlando Pirates secured maximum points on Wednesday night after beating Stellenbosch 1-0 at the Orlando Stadium.
Kamogelo Sebelebele scored the only goal of the match in the first half, and despite the many scoring opportunities created, they were unable to put the ball in the back of the net. It was just enough to give Abdeslam Ouaddou his maiden Premier Soccer League win, after initial losses against Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants, respectively.
The victory was a massive confidence-booster for the Soweto giants, who are set for the second leg of the MTN8 semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday. The initial meeting played at the Orlando Stadium ended 1-1 with Sebelebele scoring a late equaliser.

“Yeah [the win was vital] of course, [I am] delighted, at least we offered these three points for the fans. I have a thought for them because they were waiting for these three points for now, two, three weeks, so I have a thought first of all for them,” he told the media.
“I like to congratulate my boys because they have the character as well. We had a very interesting first half; we created top chances, and the second half, I think that we lost during the 25-minute control, and I think we have to improve that if we want to go higher.”
However, Ouaddou was unhappy with the way his team failed to dominate proceedings, especially in the second half. “We cannot accept losing control in a game that we have control since the beginning.”
