Bafana Bafana delivered in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) assignment on Monday against Angola.
Oswin Appollis and Lyle Foster found the back of the net in either half of Show’s strike to hand South Africa maximum points and a joint top position alongside Egypt who also beat Zimbabwe 2-1.
The two heavyweights will now face each other on Friday, where the winner will, most likely, finish at the helm.
According to former Kaizer Chiefs winger Khanyisa Mayo, Sipho Mbule is among the players who struggled to deliver in the initial game as he did not exert his authority as he should.
Mbule didn’t look like himself
“We had expectations on certain players especially Sipho Mbule, Mohau Nkota and Oswin Appollis,” he opened up to iDiski TV.
“I know Appollis scored but when you check his overall performance I don’t think he did much. It was difficult to see Mbule in this game because there was no link. Certain positions in the game I think exposed the coach, number one I don’t think there’s a combination between [Mbkezeli] Mbokazi and [Siyabonga] Ngezana.

“I don’t think there is a combination between [Sphephelo Sithole] Yaya and [Teboho] Mokoena and also Sipho Mbule and Lyle Foster I think there’s questions there.
“If there are no links there is no way we can dominate a game there is no way you can say I will win the game. Sipho Mbule played in moments especially first half, I didn’t see him. He lost so much possession especially in Bafana Bafana’s half. He didn’t look like himself, always receiving the ball while facing our goal I don’t understand why,” Khanye continued.
