Is it an excuse? Cardoso gives explaination on Sundowns’ loss

Published on by

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has explained the reason behind their 1-0 Betway Premiership loss to TS Galaxy.

In the match played at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening, Kamohelo Sebelebele's goal secured victory for the “high-flying” Galaxy, inflicting Sundowns' second league defeat this season.

Following the match, Cardoso addressed questions regarding Galaxy's first-half “dominance,” offering a contrasting view.

He stated that Sundowns had controlled the entire game, while TS Galaxy's approach was primarily defensive.

Cardoso attributed his team's “lack of energy” to their demanding fixture schedule.

CARDOSO SAYS THEY HAVE PLAYED MANY GAMES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME

“I didn't see [that TS Galaxy were ‘dominant’], sorry, but we were dominant. We were dominant all-game,” said Cardoso on SuperSport TV after the game.

“TS Galaxy defended all-game. Obviously, that we didn't have the energy that we needed. It's [our] 4th match in 72 hours, and we were penalised because of that.

“I think that we had a better chances than we should have scored. But we suffered, we were penalised in the goal in the last minutes of the first half, and we had no energy for the second one.”

The Portuguese tactician expressed confidence on his side to bounce back stronger.

‘WE WILL RISE FROM TODAY’

“The lessons is to continue to look forward and continue to work. I always said that it will be a long championship and no one has heard me say nothing different than that,” he added.

“So, my position today is exactly the same. We will rise from today and for sure you'll come even stronger.”
