Former Kaizer Chiefs winger and now-football analyst Junior Khanye has explained why Orlando Pirates youngster Relebohile Mofokeng has been struggling somewhat lately.
The Buccaneers recently suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at the hands of Marumo Gallants at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Mofokeng was the trusted player in the absence of Patrick Maswanganyi who has been nursing an injury recently. However, Pirates couldn’t find perfect rhythm in the match.
Khanye feels that the club's increasing dependence on Mofokeng is becoming detrimental. He argues that this level of reliance on a young and developing player may be inducing frustration and potentially impeding his progression.

“You can see there are games that are won by certain players not by a team,” said Khanye during an interview with iDiskiTV.
“He is so skilful; he is intelligent now he gets frustrated because he is still maturing in his game.
“The boy has won so many games for Orlando Pirates so much that you can’t even tell Pirates supporters that he won the game for them with Tito Maswanganyi complementing him.
“In games like this, other players at Orlando Pirates when they are tested pound for pound, they can’t even raise their hands. I’m referring to the likes of [Thalente] Mbatha and Kabelo Dlamini who were nowhere to be seen today.”
