Kaizer Chiefs confirm promising youngster move to USA

Published on by

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the departure of one of their brightest youth prospects, U15 talent Chukwudi Luvuno, who is now set to gain valuable international experience by joining the Charlotte Academy in the United States.

Luvuno actively participated in the SAFA Gauteng Development League (GDL) for the Amakhosi U15 side during the recent 2024/25 season, honing his skills within the Chiefs' development structure.

The club officially confirmed his exit late on Tuesday, signaling their support for his ambitious move.

This transition will see Luvuno competing in the demanding environment of the Major League Soccer (MLS) youth system, specifically with Charlotte's U16 and U17 teams, providing him with an exceptional platform to further develop his game on an international stage and potentially pave the way for a senior career.

CHIEFS’ STATEMENT ON LUVUNO

“Chukwudi Luvuno has officially joined Charlotte Academy in the United States representing Charlotte Academy U16 & U17 in the MLS Next — the youth development league of Major League Soccer — Chukwu continues to make us proud on international soil,” the club announced on Instagram.

“Well done, Chukwu!Keep flying the flag high.”

Luvuno's confirmed exit from Kaizer Chiefs' U15 side means he becomes the fifth player to depart the club following the end of this season.

His move follows the recent departures of other players who have sought new avenues.

This began with Njabulo Blom's return to his parent club, St. Louis City SC. Sabelo Radebe was released after he came back from loan. Meanwhile, DDC players Siphesihle Tati, and Ntandoyenkosi Nkosi have also left Naturena.
