The attacker has conceded he could have joined the Glamour Boys two years ago but Yanga were convincing.
Young Africans hot-shot Stephane Aziz Ki has been a target for top Premier Soccer League teams and Wydad Athletic Club owing to his exploits in the Tanzanian Premier League and Caf competitions.
The latest exploits were in the Toyota Cup pre-season tournament between Yanga SC and Kaizer Chiefs. The Burkina Faso international scored a brace to help the East Africans beat the Soweto giants 4-0.
In his latest interview, the 28-year-old has now revealed Amakhosi had a chance to sign him from Asec Mimosas in 2022.
Why did Ki choose Wananchi over Amakhosi?
The Ivory Coast-born Burknabe has explained why he opted to reject Chiefs' advances in favour of the Tanzanian outfit.
“I know they [Kaizer Chiefs] wanted me, but once someone shows you respect [you also respond],” he told Far Post.
“The president of Yanga came to see me in Berkane. I was playing against RSB Berkane in Morocco and afterwards, they came to my family to speak with me in front of my family. For me, it’s too much. You want me, and you just call and say, ‘Aziz, I have this offer for you’.

“They came from Dar es Salaam to my family. For me, it’s too much. You can’t find 10 people like that. I appreciate too much. I was happy with this project, and the way it came, and I was ready to come.
“Yanga showed me the project. Until now I trust the project, I trust the president. I can say he’s like my father. I can also see the project and the good work. It’s not the moment for me to leave.”
In the 2022/23 season, Yanga reached the Caf Confederation Cup final but narrowly lost to USM Alger.
In the last Caf Champions League campaign, they reached the quarter-final but were controversially eliminated by Mamelodi Sundowns.
