Kaizer Chiefs make Mamelodi Sundowns attacker key transfer target

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly set their sights on Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Thapelo Maseko who they want to lure to the club at the end of this season.

Chiefs are still looking for attacking reinforcements and according to Africa Soccer, feel the 21-year-old is an achievable target that can help their course given his lack of game time at Sundowns.

Maseko has made just 11 appearances in all competitions for Sundowns this season, three of them being starts, and will likely be enticed by a promise of regular football at Naturena.

The left-winger was reportedly on the radar of Chiefs even before he joined Sundowns and his former club failed in their bid to bring him back in the January transfer window.

Where will Chiefs finish this season?

Chiefs will now try to entice him to ditch Sundowns at the end of the current campaign to further strengthen their attack after another season of struggle.

Nasreddie Nabi’s team are enduring a second straight tough campaign as they are stuck in eighth position on the PSL table with 30 points from 24 matches and have gone four matches without a win.

Chiefs have drawn two and lost as many over that period and Nabi watched his team draw 1-1 with TS Galaxy last weekend when it was hoped that they would pull off a win and end their poor run.

With eight matches to go, Chiefs find themselves in a big battle to secure continental football qualification as they are seven points behind third-placed Sekhukhune, who have a game against them, and will hope to find some good form in the final weeks of the season to avoid another lower finish like the 10th of last season.
