Chiefs welcome ‘continent-unifying’ competition
Kaizer Chiefs‘ Under 15 head coach Jimmy Jambo has praised the organisers of the 2026 Toyota Cup saying the game has potential to unify the continent.
Chiefs will host Zimbabwe’s Scottland FC in what will be a pre-season game for the Betway Premiership side and preparation for next season’s CAF Champions League for the visitors in Rustenburg on 26 July.
“First things first I want to give credit to Toyota for having this initiative. Having a team from Zimbabwe when there’s now this initiative of ‘Dudula, Abahambe’ all these kinds of things that are happening,” he told the media.
“And having a Zimbabwean team coming in I think what Mandela has been saying Sports unites everybody.

“So, we are hoping that this game is going to help all the Zimbabweans and South Africans to be together, and you know fighting for one goal of which as Africans we need to be fighting for one goal.
“So I think this game will also help us in terms of fighting the Abahambe and what is happening currently,” he concluded.
Wrong mentality cost Bafana: Ex-Chiefs coach
Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson explained in detail the reason Bafana Bafana failed to perform against Mexico in the opening match of the 2026 World Cup.
There was a wrong mentality from the start. We knew it was always going to be hostile. If you’re playing against a hostile country, then 80 000 people are really going to be against you,” Johnson told KickOff.
“It’s not like here by us, where we are blowing the vuvuzelas. Those Mexican people are singing, which makes it a little bit difficult.
“The line-up, to me, was more like the 5-3-2. We had two strikers up front who the ball was not played to. It looked like from the onset we were there to defend.

“They defended for eight minutes and then after that, [Sphephelo] Sithole made a huge mistake. That ball was supposed to be kicked out once. You want to play from the back, and when you make a mistake, they punish you. The second goal was the same – we made a mistake and they punished us,” he added.
Motaung on stands to watch Musona!
Kaizer Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung watched from the stands at Rufaro Stadium in Harare as Knowledge Musona put on a five-star display for Scottland FC in the Castle Lager PSL ahead of the 2026 Toyota Cup.
