McCarthy’s team into next phase of UEFA Champions League
Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Aden McCarthy and his new team Sabah FK have progressed to the second qualifying round for the UEFA Champions League after beating TNS 4-1 on aggregate in the first round.
McCarthy, who made his debut in the first leg, was an unused substitute in the second clash. Sabah will now face Finish champions KuPS in the second qualifying round.
‘Sad day for me!’ Vilakazi on Sirino’s exit
Kaizer Chiefs starlet Mfundo Vilakazi has shared a heartfelt message with Gaston Sirino after the latter’s exit from the club was announced.
Sirino, 35, left Amakhosi after the club opted against extending his contract. The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Chiefs midfielder is expected to be unveiled by Durban City, as reported by this publication.
Meanwhile, Obrigado is with the Chiefs squad in Spain and shared an emotional message on his social media upon the confirmation of Sirino’s exit.
“Today is a very sad day for me. It’s hard to put into words how much you mean to me,” he wrote.

Da Cruz sets his Chiefs’ target
Fernando Da Cruz has outlined his expectations for Kaizer Chiefs this season, declaring his intention to improve on last term’s third-place league finish and challenge for silverware.
“I have received a very warm welcome, which I appreciate. I took pleasure in my work, and the people at Naturena, so I am happy to be back at the great Club,” he told the club’s official website.
“The Kaizer Chiefs Village at Naturena has all the facilities needed to do a good job. It is in very good condition, the pitch, the gym etc. I have a good feeling about it.”
“I am grateful to the Chairman, Dr. Kaizer Motaung and the Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. for expressing confidence in me and I will give my level best to do a good job. I am totally committed to Kaizer Chiefs,” he states, adding,
