Chiefs R4M offer for Galaxy star

TS Galaxy president Tim Sukazi has revealed that Kaizer Chiefs made an offer for one of the Rockets’ rising stars, but the proposal failed to meet his valuation of the player.

Seluleko Mahlambi has been a revelation since breaking into Galaxy’s senior team, having been promoted from the DStv Diski Challenge team in July 2025. The 22-year-old’s performances last season caught the attention of several big clubs, including the Naturena-based powerhouse.

Moreover, Mahlambi was also linked with Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates during the off-season, although neither move materialised. Sukazi has now confirmed that Chiefs were indeed interested in securing the youngster’s services, with sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr reportedly putting forward an offer worth around R4 million.

However, the Galaxy supremo felt the proposed fee did not reflect Mahlambi’s potential and stood firm on his valuation.

“Mahlambi, big talent, there has never been an offer in monetary terms outside Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Junior tabled a R4 million offer, and I thought, really, it was not good enough in my view for a player like that,” Sukazi told SNAWA

“Seluleko, at least, he should be on those ten and above million, at least, you know he is young, it has to… Kaizer was not prepared to budge, four million was the number, he stood his ground and we stood our ground.

“Not that we needed any players, by the way. All the deals that we do, we do not involve swap deals if you can check,” Sukazi concluded.

Chiefs headed the right direction – Da Cruz

Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz says they are still work in progress and believes that the club is heading to into the right direction in the league this season.

Injuries have exposed Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Frank Makua has suggested that recent injuries to key midfielders such as Lebohang Maboe have exposed the club’s lack of depth and questioned their recruitment strategy.

During the 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch, Amakhosi struggled to get their rhythm going in midfield, with Sibongiseni Mthethwa, a defensive midfielder, playing alongside Reeve Frosler, who is also a defensively minded player.

“It does (expose) them, somewhere, somehow because Chiefs is a big team, it’s a big brand, so we need to have enough depth for in cases like these ones, injuries, suspensions,” Makua told KickOff.

“Look now this weekend they’re going to compete in CAF, what if something happens to those who are there now? It’s going to be a big problem coming back to play Pirates on the 31st (of October).

“We need to have quality players, quality that will add value, bring a player who can give you the same thing as this one (who is starting), because now if you lose a player like Maboe and you have a problem when he’s not there, for a team like Kaizer Chiefs, it is unlike it. To have a problem of beating teams like Stellenbosch. It (injuries) exposes them, they must go out and get good quality players.

“We’ll never know what happened behind the scenes, what Thabo did, we need players like Thabo. We don’t have depth but you release such a player.

“In terms of recruiting, I’m not sure what criteria they are using or it’s the issue of when they try to get players teams are charging them a lot of money. But if you want a player, you go all out and get the player, because you are a big team and obviously people expect you to get quality players and play good football.

“But now if you don’t get those quality players, the team is going to suffer and mind you, the team has got a lot of supporters,” Makua concluded.
