Ngcobo back in the PSL!

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Cape Town City defender Njabulo Ngcobo has secured a return to the top-flight with Siwelele FC, signing a one-year deal with an option to extend, according to iDiski Times.

The 32-year-old defender left Cape Town City upon the expiry of his contract and has now been lured to Bloemfontein to add competition in Lehlohonolo Seema’s defence.

‘Roadblock’ capped seven times by the senior international team will likely form part of a new-look backfour with the club having over 13 exits in the off-season, including veteran defender Pogiso Sanoka.

Ngcobo was named the the Premier Soccer League Defender of the Season in 2021 after an outstanding campaign with the now-defunct Moroka Swallows which earned him a lucrative move to Chiefs.

Chiefs to lose Phili to Yanga SC?

The Langelihle Phili transfer saga is gathering serious momentum, and it now appears Kaizer Chiefs are not the only club eyeing the sought-after Stellenbosch FC winger.

“Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC, widely known as Yanga, are believed to have thrown their hat into the ring for the former Amajita star, just as Chiefs are believed to have tabled a bold offer of two players plus cash to prize him away from the Cape Winelands club,” Soccer Laduma reported.

“Yeah, I would like to tell you about the strategy of Young Africans signing next season. Young Africans were targeting to secure Keletso [Makgalwa], but he joined Simba on a two-year contract, and the priority for Young Africans now is to sign Langelihle Phili from Stellenbosch FC.

“Yanga, they are looking for the best wingers. As you know, Jammeh Buba departed from the club. Now Young Africans are looking for someone who can play as a winger or as a number 10. The first target was Keletso, who joined Simba. But now they are targeting to secure the signing of Langelihle Phili.

“I know Yanga, how they are trying to find players to help Manqoba secure the Champions League. They needed to secure him to ensure their attacking team is stable. As you remember, there are two injuries – Clement Mzize as well as Pacome Zouzoua. So Young Africans need to secure the best players to allow them to compete,” they concluded.

Chiefs keen on signing Magesi defender

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be keeping tabs on one of Magesi FC’s emerging defensive talents as they continue to assess their options ahead of the new season.

“Amakhosi have shown interest in 21-year-old defender Diteboho Mofokeng, who impressed during his breakthrough campaign in the Betway Premiership,” Soccer Laduma confirmed.

“He is a very good defender. Kaizer Chiefs have been after him. But I don’t think Magesi will release him because of where they are now. They have age restrictions to consider, and they also need to strengthen their squad if they want to compete.

“There is also Majola, who is very skilful. He is a central defender but played in midfield against Orlando Pirates. They call him ‘Mabizela’. He is also only 21 and has played for both the DDC and the first team,” they concluded.
