Kaizer Chiefs News Today: Lilepo’s next club REVEALED, transfer updates & more

The latest Kaizer Chiefs news in the last 24 hours, including Glody Lilepo’s imminent exit, what is Thabo Moloisane bringing to Amakhosi? And more.

Lilepo set for exit

Kaizer Chiefs are in the final stages of concluding Glody Makabi Lilepo’s transfer to Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi, with all parties understood to be aligned on the move, FARPost has learnt.

The clubs are putting the final touches on the agreement, while personal terms between the DR Congo forward and Al Ahly Benghazi have already been settled.

There is confidence on both sides that the deal will be completed imminently, with only the remaining administrative and contractual processes to be concluded.

The latest developments also appear to explain Lilepo’s absence from Chiefs’ pre-season training camp in Spain, where he was not included in the travelling squad amid ongoing discussions about his future.

The Benghazi-based outfit recently tabled a lucrative offer for the 28-year-old, one that convinced Chiefs to sanction his departure ahead of the 2026/27 Premier Soccer League.

Chiefs had remained open to offers for the player should a compelling proposal arrive.

Interest in his services has been growing in recent weeks, with Morocco’s AS FAR Rabat among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation before Al Ahly Benghazi emerged as frontrunners for his signature.

Should the transfer proceed as expected, Chiefs will bid farewell to a player who made a significant impact during his relatively short stint at Naturena. Lilepo played a key role in helping the Soweto giants end their decade-long trophy drought.

Ngcobo finds a new home

Former Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Njabulo Ngcobo has signed for Siwelele FC after leaving Cape Town City.

“Yes, sir, he has signed with us,” head coach Lehlohonolo Seema confirmed to Soccer Laduma.

Ngcobo, who played for Cape Town City last term, underwent an assessment before agreeing to terms.

He’s best remembered for his PSL Defender of the Season award in 2021 when he was still in the books of Swallows FC.

He then made a switch to Kaizer Chiefs, where he stayed for three years before joining Sekhukhune two years ago.

What Moloisane brings to Chiefs

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has opened up on what new signing Thabo Moloisane brings to The Glamour Boys.

Moloisane was Chiefs’ first signing ahead of the 2026/27 season after he was secured on a free transfer, following the expiry of his contract at Stellenbosch.

The Bafana Bafana defender has always been eyed as a player to play for a big team after he was recruited by Mamelodi Sundowns at an early age but to seek game-time he eventually left The Brazilians in 2020 to join All Stars, went up to Maritzburg United two years later and was signed by Stellies in 2023, in an upward trajectory for the lanky defender.

“Look, Soweto-born, something that is in his genes. Kaizer Chiefs has a way of finding their own, whether at a later stage, he’s found his home Meadowlands being his place of birth and he’s familiar with what the brand is, what the brand holds,” Gould told Kaizer Chiefs Radio.

“The competition is going to be very stiff, he’s gonna take it to the next level because he comes from Stellenbosch, Zitha (Kwinika) also. So they come in with, one, the work ethic, it’s second to none. The physical readiness, Stellenbosch doesn’t make mistakes on that.

“And he comes back wanting to go back to the national team. So he comes with a lot that he has to achieve, so what a great platform for him. He’s standing on the shoulders of giants, we came, we left and he just needs to come in and do best. This is not the best move for him, it’s the right move, the best does not always work out, this is the right move,” he concluded.
