Latest Kaizer Chiefs news, in the last 24 hours, including Fernando Da Cruz analysing Langelihle Phili, Siyabonga Ngezana opens up about Amakhosi and how they shaped him, and more.

Da Cruz on Phili’s impact

Fernando da Cruz is delighted with Langelihle Phili’s instant impact at Kaizer Chiefs, but the French tactician has highlighted one key area the youngster must improve to fit his system.

If I did not play for Chiefs…

South African defender Siyabonga Ngezana has reflected on his time at Kaizer Chiefs, where he faced intense scrutiny during his seven-year spell with the club’s senior side.

Developed by Amakhosi, Ngezana was promoted to the Glamour Boys’ senior team from the reserve side in 2016 and went on to establish himself in the first team.

However, Ngezana was one of the most heavily criticised players during his time at the Soweto giants. In July 2023, the now 29-year-old star joined Romanian giants FCSB, where he has since become a regular and an important figure in the side.

“Every chapter of my career is important to me because, if it was not for Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t think I would be the player I am today. Everything that happened there shaped me. I learned a lot at Chiefs. Chiefs are one of the biggest clubs in Africa,” he told KickOff.

“The pressure I deal with in Europe today, I do not think I would be able to handle it if I did not play for Chiefs. It is more like something I had already experienced at Chiefs,” he added.

“So, for me, every experience prepares you for the next chapter. I can never take away the chapter or what Chiefs did for me. Being there first played a huge role in my development.

“I mean, if I had not played for Kaizer Chiefs before coming here, I don’t think I would have been able to handle facing top clubs like Manchester United and others.

“I am grateful for the opportunity I had there. Right now, there’s nothing that makes me scared because of everything I went through. Every chapter has been important, and all I can do is wish Chiefs all the best for next season,” he concluded.
