Latest Kaizer Chiefs news, in the last 24 hours, including former Amakhosi coach’s links to Pyramids, club lauded for landing Bafana Bafana international and more.
Ex-Chiefs coach opens up to Pyramids links
Former Betway Premiership coach Cavin Johnson has broken his silence after he was reportedly linked with a move to Egyptian Premier League giants Pyramids.
Johnson is no stranger to Egyptian football after he spent one season as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant coach at Al Ahly, winning the CAF Champions League together.
The Johannesburg-born coach has been without a club for two years now after leaving Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
In an interview with the Egyptian publication MBC Masr, the 67-year-old explained that he was beaming with pride at being linked with the Sky Blues, but no contact has been made, Mes7at reported.

“I am deeply honoured to know that my name has been brought forward to coach a club of Pyramids’ stature, and I am grateful for this trust. However, as of right now, I have not been officially contacted by any club official,” the South African explained.
Chiefs lauded for signing Bafana Bafana international
Kaizer Chiefs have signed Stellenbosch FC centre-back Thabo Moloisane as their first 2026/27 capture, with former defender Thabang Rooi praising the 27-year-old’s quality and national team credentials.
“I think it is a good move,” Rooi said as quoted by Soccer Laduma.
“Based on his performances for Stellenbosch FC last season and how that got him a national team call-up speaks to the quality of Moloisane.

“Considering how (Given) Msimango was converted from a centre-back to a right-back at Chiefs, Moloisane will fit in the club’s defensive system.”
Matlou opens up after Chiefs’ exit
Following the confirmation of his exit from Kaizer Chiefs, attacking midfielder George Matlou has penned a farewell message to Amakhosi players, coaches and supporters.
Mashiane’s farewell message
“Twelve years ago, I joined Kaizer Chiefs as a 16-year-old boy with nothing but a dream. I never imagined the journey would shape me into the person and player I am today.
“I want to thank the club for believing in me from such a young age and giving me the opportunity to grow through the youth ranks and eventually wear the first-team jersey. Representing this badge has been one of the greatest honours of my life. To the chairman, management, coaches, technical staff, medical team, kit managers, office staff, and everyone who works tirelessly behind the scenes—thank you for everything you’ve done for me over the years.
“To all my teammates, past and present, thank you for every training session, every match, every victory, every setback, and every memory we created together. I’ll always be grateful to have shared this journey with you. And to the Amakhosi faithful, thank you for your incredible love and support. You stood by me through the highs and the lows, and I’ll never take that for granted.

“Although my time as a GLAMOUR BOY has come to an end, I leave with nothing but gratitude and respect for this special club. Kaizer Chiefs will always have a special place in my heart because this is where I grew up, both as a footballer and as a person.
