Mtasingwa blames poor form on lack of ‘luck’

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa believes the club’s poor run of form is just down to lack of “luck” as his team have been playing well.

Chiefs have won just one of their last four matches, drawing the other three, leading to criticism of coach Fernando da Cruz’s tactical approach as well as the players for not applying themselves well.

However, the Tanzania midfielder sees the glass half-full, insisting that the team is on the right trajectory.

“Our game model is well structured. It’s just that we have been unlucky with results,” Mtasingwa told the club’s website.

“We have a good spirit in the camp. We have had a full week to get ready, and we are feeling positive about the game this weekend,” he added while reflecting on Sunday’s game against Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium.

“It is massively important to us as a team, considering our recent results. We always focus on the next game and are looking forward to it because we really want to boost our momentum with a win ahead of the FIFA international break that follows,” he added.

Ndlovu insists Kaizer Chiefs firmly in title race

Meanwhile, Chiefs midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu insists the Glamour Boys are determined to stay in the title race despite being eight points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played two games more.

Chiefs have been inconsistent with their one win in four games, seeing them drop to fourth place on 12 points, and Ndlovu says they must start by beating Golden Arrows in Mpumalanga on Sunday even if Pitso Dlalala’s side are a tricky team.

“Obviously we were disappointed not to get the win against Polokwane but we have had a week to prepare for this one and it’s going to be an interesting game because we have played them already and we know it won’t be an easy ride, but it’s very important for us to go into the break on the back of a positive result,” said Ndlovu.

“They [Arrows] are a possession-based side that is also dangerous in transition so they are tricky to play against but we have our own tactical plan that will nullify their strengths and pose them problems,” he added.

“If we want to stay in the title race, this game is vital to us continuing our journey, so whether we win in style or by grinding it out, we want those three points on Sunday,” the former SuperSport United star stated.
