Lilepo to choose between Raja and Ahli

Kaizer Chiefs have agreed a transfer fee with both Al Ahli Benghazi and Raja Athletic Club for in-demand winger Glody Lilepo.

The DR Congo international has made no secret of his desire to leave the club after failing to settle into life in South Africa, with his family unable to join him since his arrival.

According to iDiski Times, offers were tabled from Al Ahli Benghazi, Al Nasr Benghazi, Asswehly SC, Raja and Wydad Athletic Club — however, only Ahli and Raja have had their approaches accepted. The player will now weigh up personal terms from both clubs before making a final decision.

Lilepo joined Chiefs from Valenciennes in January 2025 in a reported R9-million transfer and contributed 15 goals and five assists in 56 appearances for the club, including a Nedbank Cup winners’ medal.

Academy keeper points to a bright future

While the first team navigates a busy transfer window, encouraging news is emerging from the youth ranks.

The latest goalkeeper to catch the eye is Keabetswe Morake, who played a starring role as Kaizer Chiefs claimed the Engen Knockout Challenge Under-18 title in Johannesburg last weekend.

Morake’s performances earned him the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award after producing a string of assured displays throughout the competition.

Morake was particularly heroic in the semi-final, saving three spot-kicks as Chiefs eliminated Randburg FC in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw, before the team beat Kathorus Hyper Academy 2-0 in the final at Marks Park.

Confident under the high ball, commanding in his area and vocal in organising his defence, Morake displayed maturity well beyond his years.

Perhaps most impressive was his composure in possession — he demonstrated the accurate distribution and calm decision-making that have become trademarks of the club’s academy products.
