Why did Chiefs camp in Spain?

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has revealed the reasons behind the club’s decision to hold their pre-season camp in Spain ahead of thenew campaign.

Amakhosi returned to South Africa earlier this week after a period of intensive preparations abroad. 

Motaung explained that the trip was aimed atexposing the team to a new environment, while also helping the new technical team settle in andintegrating the club’s new signings.

“The idea of the camp in Spain was about taking the team away from home to experience, a different environment with unfamiliar conditions, integrating the new technical team and also working on induction details for getting the team ready for the season,” Motaung told Amakhosi media team.

“Playing practice matches against opponents from various leagues around the world proved worthwhile in helping the team adapt to different styles of play and, with the help of our mental coach who worked on the psychological aspects of the game and team building exercises, we achieved all of our intended goals.”

Kaze opens up on translator tag

Sekhukhune United head coach Cedric Kaze says he didn’t mind the translator tag when he was at Kaizer Chiefs though it wasn’t stipulated in his contract and the club also asked him to not do it.

The Burundi national helped Nabi with the press conference and pre-/post-match interview translating French to English and vice versa, something he often got ridiculed for on social media.

He explained to Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified on Metro FM on Tuesday how the ridicule didn’t bother him because he knew the facts and it doesn’t take away from his job as a tactician.

“I have heard about it [the translator tag]. It’s funny sometimes because you know in these modern times of social media people they tend to talk about everything and nothing,” he stated.

“As well you know that time even the club had asked me to even not do the translation but I said I don’t mind because it was not part of my contract and my requirements. But I said that I don’t mind doing it.

“As far as my message can get across very quickly and can help the team to do better, I don’t mind because, as well the outside words they don’t hurt me because I know where I’m going, I know where I’m coming from and I know as well what I’m capable of, and I hope that time will prove it,” he concluded.

Chiefs’ Mabasa boost?

Football agent Gary Cassisa has opened up rumours linking Tshegofatso Mabasa with a possible move to Pyramids FC, revealing a hurdle with a transfer to the Egyptian giants. 

“Look for Tshegofatso Mabasa; nothing formal, just interest, you know,” Cassisa told FARPost.

“The problem is that in Egypt, clubs only have no more than six foreigners and at the moment they [ Pyramids]have filled their foreign quota.

“And they are going on a pre-season, so that means they will only be back in Egypt around August, which might be a bit too long for Mabasa to wait for them to decide; he needs to get back to playing football.”
