Latest Kaizer Chiefs news, in the last 24 hours, including coveted tactician not on his way to Naturena Village, more about the goalkeepers’ coach and more.

Not to Chiefs!

Manqoba Mngqithi is looking at options outside the country, as agent Mike Makaab confirmed that there are no local offers at the moment that suit the coach.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns tactician had been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs to join the technical team, but that is not the case, according to his agent, Mike Makaab.

“We are busy looking at opportunities for him outside of the country. There’s been quite a lot of interest. The important thing is that it’s got to be the right project for him. He’s not a young football coach. He’s an experienced football coach and requires serious projects to get stuck into, so we are busy looking outside the borders of the country,” Makaab told Soccer Laduma.

“There has been (local interest), but nothing that really suits him at this point. Yes, we’ve had interest, but it’s important for the coach that the project is interesting. That’s why we are looking outside the borders. We want to try to extend our reach to see if we can work with a football club that is aligned with his values and vision, and visa versa.”

Who is the new Amakhosi goalkeepers’ coach?

Sorin was appointed as the new goalkeeper coach at Naturena on Friday, forming part of new coach Fernando Da Cruz’s backroom staff.

While not much is known about Sorin in South Africa, it is understood that he holds a UEFA Goalkeeper A Licence.

Furthermore, Sorin is said to have helped shape the careers of top-class goalkeepers such as Édouard Mendy and Steve Mandanda at Rennes.

However, what is also interesting is the fact that Sorin was once a teammate of a South African player.

According to Transfermarkt, Sorin played three games alongside Kermit Erasmus for Rennes B.

They won two of those matches, while one ended in defeat.
