Kaizer Chiefs vice-captain Zitha Kwinika has nailed his colours to the mast by declaring that only the Betway Premiership title will be considered a successful season for Amakhosi.

Chiefs finished third last term, and for Kwinika’s target to be realised, the Soweto giants will need to leapfrog both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns at the top of the table.

It is a considerable step up in ambition from a club still building momentum after ending a long wait for silverware, but Kwinika has made clear that anything short of the league crown will not be good enough this season.

“Winning the league. I want more; if I could do more, I would,” said Kwinika as per KickOff.

“Yes, you can be a bit satisfied because you can’t be ungrateful taking into account where the team has been in the past 10 years, blah blah blah, and what we were able to do in that space.

“So, you can’t take that away, but knowing that you want to win, I’m a professional footballer, I’m competitive. If I have to win every game every day, I will want to do that and get more silverware.”

Kaizer Chiefs Ladies continued their fine form as they beat Bluebirds Ladies FC 2-0 in the Gauteng Sasol Women’s Provincial League at the Alex Safe Hub on Saturday afternoon.

It was another clean sheet for the Glamour Girls, who have now gone 12 matches without defeat, winning 11 of them and scoring 32 goals along the way.

The result follows a 4-2 away win over Mito Stars in their previous outing, with Unathi Mabena’s side once again dominant from start to finish, as per iDiski Times.

With eight matches remaining, Chiefs Ladies have further boosted their promotion chances and will be looking to keep their momentum going as the campaign heads into its closing stretch.
