Kaizer Chiefs legend to deputise Mosimane at Bafana?

AmaZulu FC head coach Arthur Zwane is the leading candidate to join Pitso Mosimane’s technical team as second assistant coach at Bafana Bafana.

The South African Football Association announced Pitso Mosimane as new head coach a week ago, with his long-term colleagues Musi Matlaba and Kabelo Rangoago forming part of his technical team.

On Tuesday afternoon, SAFA confirmed that Morena Ramorobeli will leave his position as Botswana head coach to be joining Mosimane’s technical team as assistant coach, as first reported by this publication in July.

But iDiski Times has been reliably informed that Mosimane’s technical team is not complete yet, as they look to bring more hands to the task, and Zwane’s name has come up at the top of the list as one of the assistant coaches.

‘Mangethe’ has grown in his coaching, having first coached Kaizer Chiefs before joining AmaZulu. 10111 has delivered a great season at Usuthu as the sole head coach, finishing in the top four, and has already started the new season on a high note, as Usuthu is currently sitting in fifth place with 10 points after five games.

Amakhosi’s goal against Siwelele was correct!

Kaizer Chiefs’ first goal against Siwelele FC was correctly awarded, this is according to former PSL referee Victor Hlungwani.

Mfundo Vilakazi gave Amakhosi the lead in the 30th minute but it was the incident at the goalposts that enraged the Siwelele players who felt that Wandile Duba had fouled Thabiso Sesane.

“The Principal” has since argued that no foul was committed, as it was a shoulder charge between Sesane and Duba which allowed the referee to award the goal as Chiefs ran out narrow 3-2 victors.

“Vilakazi scored the goal. You can see Vilakazi; he’s chipping the ball nicely, but Sesane and Duba go to challenge for the ball,” Hlungwani said on Soccerzone.

“So, when they challenge one another, we need to check whether there is a push. We don’t see a push. Was there charging an opponent? We don’t see charging an opponent.

“We see players challenging for the ball. When players challenge for the ball, it depends on who has power. Shoulder-to-shoulder challenge, so when they go to the net, someone has to lose power there.

“Correct decision by the referee to award the goal.”

Ex-Chiefs captain Maart on why he committed to SV Ried

Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has opened up on his decision to commit his long-term future to Austrian side SV Ried. The midfielder has put pen to paper on an improved contract extension, keeping him at the club until June 2028.

Maart was one of the key players for the Austrian outfit last season, making 38 appearances across all competitions. He has carried that momentum into the current campaign, where he has already featured in seven games and registered two assists.

“I am happy and content here in Ried, and I signed this new contract because of the entire team. The club is investing heavily in me and putting great trust in me,” Maart said.

“I am very grateful to be given another chance with this contract to play here in Europe and in Austria. A big thank you goes to the fans for their support, as well as to my family who have my back and help me stay mentally strong.”

Maart emphasised that his primary focus remains on driving the team forward on the pitch.

“My goal is to always give my best for the team and for myself as a player—on the pitch, in training, and in matches. Ultimately, it’s always about making the team better,” he added.

SV Ried currently sit ninth in the Austrian Bundesliga table, having accumulated four points from their opening five matches [one win, one draw, three losses].
